Revival of Steffi the Numbnut - CNY!

Right, I admit, I was suffering from writer's block, going into "slump", over-enjoying Chinese New Year (if there's such a thing), whatever you choose to call it. It has been a good Chinese New Year, was at Kluang, Johor on the Eve of CNY till the 3rd day, then on the same day, took the train down to Singapore and came back to good old Pee-Jay on the 6th day. Ang pow collection? Pretty good...especially when you get Singapore currency. Heh.

So what exactly did I do in Kluang? Well, last year, I did not celebrate CNY at my hometown because of exams. Yay. Apparently, my cousins, aunts and uncle had a swimming outing last year. This year? Mountain climbing, Gunung Lambak to be exact. Our goal? The so-called midpoint. It's probably only 1/3 of the mountain. Conclusion? I'm really, really out of shape. Really. It was embarassing to be left behind with some of the older folks when ppl my age (my cousins) were way ahead of us.

We started of looking prim and proper, full of energy and zest. By the time we reached the halfway point, most of us were red-faced, huffing and puffing, dragging our feet (actually, I think it's just me) and sweating like crazy. Then, being adventurous, I tried drinking water from the pipe at the halfway point. Cousin said she drank one whole bottle before and it was fine. So I took one sip. Seems fine to me. Then I drank a few gulps. And then, spit them out immediately. Kami-sama! >.< It tasted a bit weird, a bit sourish...Dad said natural water tastes like that, but I didn't care. I refused to drink it after that. There were a pair of squirrels scampering about, looking for food. They were quite big, and certainly not afraid of people. These were real squirrels, and not those tree shrews we see scampering about on our streets.

After taking loads of pictures, it was time to descent. Going down took a shorter time as we took the shorter route down. At the foothill, there was a resort there, complete with a small water theme park (nothing fanciful, just huge swimming pools and colourful playthings). Sis and I decided to buy ice cream from the shop in the resort (yalah, lose calories already, must put more back). Sis took one bite (ahahaha, luckily I didn't eat first), made a face, when running around to look for a sink, and spit the ice cream out (why bother, just open your mouth and let it spill out on the spot lah, like what I did with the water). She said the ice cream tasted weird and BITTER. Ah well, no wonder there wasn't anyone buying ice cream from that shop. Ah well, there goes my treat. T_T I didn't even open it...

Then, it was back to grandma's house. Following that was the search for cousin's missing tortoise, lunch, the search for cousin's missing tortoise again, house visiting, rest, dinner, after dinner snacking and gossiping and finally, bedtime. A really busy day, but certainly enjoyable.
